Responsibilities: The staff attorney will be
working in a busy social justice law practice, using a range of advocacy
strategies, including litigation, legislative advocacy & policy reform,
media, community education and organizing, and administrative advocacy. The docket will include a range of civil
rights issues in access to health care, including addressing divestment of
health services from low-income communities of color and challenging barriers to
accessing health care services.
Criteria: Applications are encouraged from attorneys with two to five years of relevant litigation experience. Applicants must have top litigation skills, dogged determination, demonstrated commitment to the struggle against discrimination on the basis of race or national origin, and passion for working with and on behalf of community-based organizations. Excellent writing, analytic and public speaking skills are essential, as is the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Second language and/or knowledge of health care issues are a strong plus.
